I think there is something fishy going on with iPhoneClub for “Best Modern and Elegant” Now, I want to say this in the nicest way possible, but iPhoneClub is definitely not the nicest designed site in that category for sure.
I’m not saying mine IS and that I deserve to win, but, I dunno. 630 votes already? I think not.

@Ralph: Our website is really popular in The Netherlands, with over 45K+ daily visitors who happen to be enthousiastic supporters of the website
By all means, WPwebhost is free to check IP adressess / server logs to check for fair and square voting, but our contest post (see previous link) has been retweeted and commented on a lot, so that might explain the large lead. As I keep on telling in the comments: it’s way too early to tell who might be the winner, since the end date is still a month away.

Jean-Paul Horn: We’ve received a few feedbacks on it and definitely will implement something similar in the next competition.
It would be something of a balance of public voting and reputable web designers panel judges.

@Foress: I agree wholeheartedly, although I’d like to state again I’m utterly surprised by the huge support of our visitors. I just wished they would vote for the other designs as well (I keep on asking this in the comments). Also, I’d like to reiterate it’s way too soon to call it quits already, as the voting competition has just started and May 6th is a long way ahead and some of the contestants haven’t put their contest post up yet.
I’m very proud to be selected in the Top 10 for Modern & Elegant and our design, the things we’ve done with WordPress, jQuery and HTML/CSS has been recognized as Top 10 material.

I too was surprised by the commanding lead iPhone club had when I published my votes earlier yesterday. After visiting the site and noticing the Alexa rank and pagerank, I determined that they must have quite a bit of traffic and of course, a faithful following which explains it.
This is a problem faced in any of these voting competitions. While one might have a kick arse design, the site with the largest set of eyeballs and the largest set of influence will win out every time. Thats just the way it works.

iPhoneclub.nl is simply the best (dutch) website about the Apple iPhone. It has regular daily updates, good reviews and great news. It’s design is simple (in a good way) and clear, easy to understand and easy to navigate.
That’s why I voted for iPhoneclub, one of the few websites out there that i love to visit EVERY day!
